Why do they always put the soles on the bottom of the shoes?

Then the only way you see them is in a footprint. And all the contrasting colours just disappear. Soles are brilliant. Who cares about the sleek and aerodynamic design? That's the functional part. Not artistic at all. Jerks >.>
