Isn't it time that supposedly celibate octogenarians stopped portraying themselves as experts on ual issues?

I'm referring to the pope's comments regarding Africa's HIV pandemnic and the (non) use of condoms. Aren't his remarks not only irresponsible but "un-christian"? Made soley to reinforce the Vatican's medieval stance on contraception, without any regard for the consequences to catholics in Africa?
